Tutors

Diane is a Registered General Nurse, Qualified Teacher and Specialist Exercise Instructor Level 4.   She has been teaching evidence based exercise sessions to older people in the community for 11 years, including Phase lV Cardiac Rehabilitation, Falls Prevention, Circuit Training, Chair Based Exercise and Exercise to Music sessions.  

In addition to her nursing and exercise instructor qualifications Diane has a BA (Hons) Education & Training and a Certificate in Education.   In 2006, while working as a tutor for Poole Adult Learning, as a result of an excellent report following an ALI/OFSTED inspection, Diane was invited to join the Tutor Observation Team, a role which she took on and enjoyed.

James Druce

Hello! I am James and I run East to West which is a small catering and events business with a big capacity!   We cater for all types of events, and work with local business to support their specific needs, which means our size plays to your strengths!   My passions include all things food, which is why I love teaching about food, nutrition and food safety on the Younger 4 Longer Diploma courses.

I have two degrees in hospitality and tourism subjects, and have eight years experience working in the busy catering and hospitality industry – and I’ve loved every moment!   As well as running a busy business I am also a trustee for Living Hope Africa, a small charity helping support young people who need a second chance in Kenya.   It’s a great way to help keep young people off the streets and out of poverty, offering them a fresh start and fresh opportunities.

Assessors

Karen Walls and Miles Jarvis are both Registered Nurses.   Along side her nursing qualification Karen has a BA (Hons) degree in Education & Training.   Miles is a senior nursing professional with extensive clinical skills developed over ten years while supervising a busy UK hospital Accident and Emergency Department
